商業施設の集積は、ライフスタイルの変化に影響を与え、またその影響を受けます。本研究では、生活パターンの変化の指標として商業施設の立地と集積を利用します。ソーシャルネットワーク理論は、従来のユークリッドに基づくアプローチを超えることができる複雑な商業類型の相互接続を理解する方法と技術を提供します。私たちは、さまざまな類型の共同配置に関心があります。特に、コロナ後の都市システムにおける構造変化の証拠に関心があります。ネットワークアプローチは、ショッピングエリアの回復力や、都市部、郊外、周辺部における経済的変動の連鎖的影響についての洞察も提供できます。The agglomeration of commercial facilities both influences and is influenced by changing lifestyles. This study uses the location and accumulation of commercial facilities as an indicator of changing patterns of living. Social network theory provides methods and techniques to understand the complex interconnection commercial typologies that can transcend conventional euclidean-based approaches. We are interested in the co-location of various typologies. Of particular interest is evidence of structural change in urban systems post-covid. A network approach can also provide insight into the resilience of shopping areas and the cascading effects of economic volatility in urban, suburban and peri-urban spaces. In particular we are developing a multi-layer network in line with Christopher Alexander’s seminal essay: "A City is not a Tree”. Advances in computing theory and capacity can offer new insight into this theoretical proposition developed some 70 years ago. This research will develop insight into the cascading effects of change or shock in urban economic systems.
